March Updates from the Political Institute

Hello Political Institute members and friends,

Our committee has had a busy month brainstorming publication ideas and meeting with our research teams. We are applying for a university managed journal account which would be the perfect place to publish our policy papers and highlight the work of our research teams. The committee also hosted a dinner and drinks event this month with members of our research teams, which gave us a chance to build community outside of Political Institute business!

Our Class and Inclusivity in Higher Education team is working on individual research and has completed large portions of their individual writing. After internally approving our ethics review for survey work, we have given the team the go-ahead to publish a university-wide survey that would give them more data about how class inclusivity is perceived and felt by St Andrews students.

Our Affordable Housing team is also making considerable strides forward with their work, and are discussing publishing a survey to support portions of their research as well. They have begun the writing process on topics such as tourism, HMO licensing and government policy, and cost of living and events in St Andrews.

We are excited to see the final work these teams produce, which will likely be available in May!
